Ecc 2:16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.
Ecclesiastes 2: 16
No, this is not The Onion, but sometimes you surely must come to this conclusion, and it is enough to make you say “WTF!” Why do you do anything at all? Why toil in the field? Why work to get all the power you can as an industrialist or king, when in the end, you die the same way as a fool?
Well, thankfully, Jesus has provided us the answer, and it all has to do with where you lay up your treasures,
Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Matthew 6: 19-20
That seems like a pretty smart thing to do. Create your treasures in heaven where they can never be taken away or eroded, where the fool is far from the wise man, where there is life and thus, death cannot remove you from those treasures. But how do you lay up your treasures in heaven? Take the first step,
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matthew 6: 21
Where is your heart? On vain accomplishments that only serve themselves, or in heaven and making strides and action with God?
Practically speaking, this is a question of whether you will keep $10 bucks because you want to be rich for rich sakes, or will you help a poor person to buy a meal that day by giving them $10?
Think about all the repercussions of this action by considering how you would feel, how the receiving person feels, and the aftermath?
