As I was watching an action movie the other day, I couldn’t help but have one of those moments where you say to yourself, “This only happens in the movies.” It’s a scene of chaos and bullets flying (and missing) most of their targets, but despite the circumstances, a child responds with resounding accuracy to the instruction of their father.
And it was in this moment that God put on my heart this passage,
Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10: 27 KJV
Chaos in our lives is not brought about only by flying bullets and warfare, although that is a sad reality for so many people. Chaos can come about from external factors such as uncertainty about work, bill payments, health, and completely random events of which you have no control such as fires or natural disasters. How do you survive these situations and return to thriving? You listen to the voice of your heavenly Father. Don’t expect something loud and audible because you will crap your pants. As Elijah says when he is hiding in 1 Kings 19:12, “And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. ” Rely on your Heavenly Father and LISTEN to Him so that you navigate life on a strong and righteous path.
