How are you deciding the winner battleground: you ?

Battleground: you is everywhere and there could be a war waged on it at any time.  For some people, there are many wars to fight, for others, there are less wars to fight because they have grown strong in the Lord and won so many battles that they are not attacked as much. Make no mistake about it however, the devil is always calculating how to attack you and steal you away from the salvation you have (or are seeking) in Christ Jesus.

The fight that is taking place rarely is a physical one – if ever.  It is a battle that is waged in your mind and heart.  Many times, the battle will be a battle between what your heart says and what your heart says.  Imagine a situation where there is $100,000 that you can steal and no one would ever find out.  The battleground is set.  Your mind tries to justify that you can send your child to university and pay off your mortgage. Your heart says that it is wrong because you are stealing.

These are the types of decisions that you will be faced with your entire life.  So what is your criteria for choosing the right thing to do? What is going to determine who wins the battle?

Are you going to use science? Your bank balance? A stereotype? Historical concepts such as Machiavelli’s “the ends justify the means.?”  As we grow and live our lives, we (hopefully) are becoming wiser and have reflected on our past decisions on which we have used these criterion for making difficult decisions.  What me must ask ourselves is if these precepts were right with our soul.  If we are honest, many times, they were not; and this results in a certain dissatisfaction or ‘ickyness’ from the situation even if the result was satisfactory.

Therefore, through God’s everlasting mercy and love, we must use His word as the hammer that lays down the winning blow in the battleground that takes place within ourselves.  As it is so impeccably written in 2 Timothy 3: 14 – 16,

2Ti 3:14  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

2Ti 3:15  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

— 2 Timothy 3: 14-16

God’s word is available for us so that in any situation we can use it doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction.  Use it to win the battle against evil. Use the Word of God so that righteousness prevails in you, and your salvation remains well with you.

  1. Wonderful! More than coming face to face with the standard of God, we also need to pray for God’s strength to meet up with those standard. Indeed, the flesh is weak, but we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us!
