The Word is like a rock, the glory of man like a blade of grass

1Pe 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1Pe 1:24  For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

1Pe 1:25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

— 1 Peter 1: 23-25

Usually, I want to spend time drawing out a message from a passage like this, but instead we will just examine the difference between God’s Word and the life of a man. Additionally, we think that you will get a lot of value by reading this post, with the last one we posted, Is Your Foundation Unbreakable?.

The focus of these two articles is to ask yourself, if everything in my life was stripped away from me, who would I be?

Consider the many different things that mankind uses to define success in their lives – house, money, size of family, sporting achievements, cars, and anything else you can think of.  What they all have in common is that they have a season. Once the season is done, these things are passed on to other people and the season ends. As a person ages, the fitness used to play professional sports eventually fades to where that is no longer possible. Cars rust, and so forth.

1Pe 1:24  For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

1 Peter 1: 24

What can you make a part of your life that can serve you everyday of your life and never change and last forever? The Word of God. As Peter states in 1 Peter 1:25

1Pe 1:25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

1 Peter 1: 25

Reflect on this well.
